What is floorwork?
Floorwork is a popular term in modern dance. The name simply refers to movements on the floor. Series of movements are often carefully choreographed and performed at neck-breaking speed. Floorwork changes the body’s relationship with gravity. It develops flexible joints and a relaxed body. The kinesthetic feedback provided by the floor makes it a sensory-rich practice.

In Movingness Somatic Floorwork, we slow down to feel the body. This makes it possible to explore the moving body in great detail. We can refine old movements and create new ones. And expand our movement repertoire! There’s no competition or performance. It’s only about the relationship between you and your body. And the joy of being and moving in a living body!

It’s common to enter a flow state, or “the zone”, as some athletes would say. This makes somatic floorwork very pleasant to practice.
